Finally going to Argentina!!! I'll be in Buenos Aires with my good friend, Amanda, living it up in a time-share for a week. Then off to explore the Andean Northwest and Iguazu. Stay tuned!
It is great that you are going to Iguazu, it is definitely a must in Argentina. However, if you stay in the capital for more than 5 days, you may want to see what are the side trips that can be done in a day or two in the surroundings of BA. If you have already rented apartments in Buenos Aires there is no problem because thies trips can be done in a day (you go in the morning and return in the evening). for instance The Pampas. These are the fertile plains surrounding Buenos Aires, and this is where you should go to find gaucho culture. The main town at the center of it all is San Antonio de Areco, about 1 1/2 hours north of the capital!
